Synopsis
Heroes is a TV series about legend-like stories of the famous wrestling champion and hero, Pooria Vali. While under the rule of Mogul invaders, he works as a blacksmith and trains his wrestling understudies in a wrestling house. He always helps the weak and the oppressed. His nemesis, Eskandar, is the ambitious Sheriff backed by the Moguls. In each episode of the series, we witness a story regarding this rivalry. Pooria uses his intelligence and help from other heroes to resist the ruse and tricks of Eskandar and his soldiers. Pooria Vali says a lot of wise and ethical maxims in the series. The stories in this series happen in Kharazm, an old town in the Old Khorasan province and in the 8th Lunar century.
About Pooria Vali
Pooria Vali is one of the most well-known and popular Iranian heroes in history. He was from the land of Kharazm, and it is said that he was skilful in wrestling and power sports, and no one could beat him. He also actively supported the less privileged and the oppressed and lived a simple life.
He was born in Kharazm in the 8th Lunar century and around the time Holko-Khan invaded Iran and established the Ilk Hanan dynasty. They toppled the Ismailia and Abbasid dynasties. His parents were from Gorganj and had immigrated to Khiveh. Pooria was born in Khiveh. In his childhood and adolescence years, he learned how to wrestle and trained other young wrestlers as he was considered one of the most well-known wrestlers at the time. He leaned towards mysticism and philosophy in his late years and became a dervish leader. He had a huge effect on mysticism, fair sportsmanship and in particular wrestling. He was considered a very influential hero and wrestler for centuries and many wrestling techniques go back to him.
Director Notes
As the director, art director, and layout artist for the first season of the series, I gained huge experiences from this animated series: Using various timings and visual combinations, dramatic actions and reactions, and achieving new records in Iranian TV animation projects. More importantly, I got to know and cast a group of great animators, character designers, and background and ambience creators, who helped me create an animated TV series. Even when I left the project at the end of the first season, this group managed to keep the series so popular among children and young adults in the following seasons. This was all due to the professional and calculated vision and pre-production I designed with the help of my colleagues. Our pre-production and production method worked perfectly in the following seasons as well, directed by Siavash Zarrinabadi. Today, the Heroes series and its characters, Pooria Vali, Safi, Mofrad and Yavar are some of the most popular characters among children and young adults in Iran. It was one of my best experiences in making animated TV series.
